Summer Reading Suggestions

Here is a list of books that you might be interested in reading over the summer.

Antieau, Kim RUBY’S IMAGINE
Ruby, 17, lives in New Orleans with her grandma, Mamaloose. She lived in the bayou until her parents died, and still talks the dialect when Mamaloose lets her. She communes with plants and animals, and knows a "big spin" is coming. Hurricane Katrina is on the way, and Ruby warns those she can. Then Katrina hits and Ruby tries to save Mammaloose, and others in their area of New Orleans. Unusual, but gives a sense of the disaster.

Bertagna, Julie ZENITH
Sequel to Exodus. After being refused entrance to the city on stilts, Mara (16 or so) and the refugees following her are riding a huge white ship to look for land in the north where they hope they can survive. The ship is on automatic pilot and the passengers have no idea how long it will take to reach their destination -- if there really is land somewhere. Survival tale! after the polar ice caps have melted.
A third book is in the works.

Meyer, L. A. RAPTURE OF THE DEEP
On the day of their wedding, prior to their wedding, Jacky and her intended, Jaimy, are taken by the British and forced to serve their homeland again. Jacky is to dive off the keys of Florida for a treasure lost by the Spanish. Lots of action and adventure, also lots of Jacky flirting with fellas she encountered in previous adventures and parading around in her “swim suit” she designed. Sure to be popular with fans of the series.
